Eva has some painful experiences in her past. The one that really sets her off is how she got that scar. But she doesn't like to talk about that.

Not really sure about this. It's a mini vent, I guess. All of my mini vents seem to involve tears
But yeah, strange angle I don't know why, I just starting sketching at that angle I'm quite proud of the shading on this one, I think I've been getting quite a lot better at shading recently The face still seems a bit flat, though, I'll have to work on that...
(Before anyone asks, the reason she looks like she has no clothes on is because her dress only has one shoulder, and her left shoulder is the one that'a covered. So none of her dress actually made it into this drawing )
That smugde on her cheek is annoying me. My scanner, ugh

Hello there, Iβm a member of ProjectComment and Iβm glad I returned to the Community Support Group later in the week otherwise I wouldβve missed this picture
Donβt be afraid to vent your emotions in your pictures. I do it all the time and about a quarter of all my pictures on DeviantArt are sad with tears or in melancholy. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I have depression and have come out of most of it. But depression is never something fully cured, so whenever I feel sad I feel like drawing someone crying. Fact is Iβm drawing someone right now in tears. So donβt worry, sadness is a healing emotion in my books
I like a sad picture, it feels kinda healing if you get what I mean. I like this picture really much in that respect. I like her hair because you have used shading to symbolize the individual strands of hair and some people try to do that with their line art and it looks terrible. But yours is done fairly well
Admittedly I donβt like giving critiques because I donβt know if what I say is correct. I know itβs part of a constructive comment and I really do want to help. Itβs justβ¦ if I say something that isnβt correct I might throw that person off track or dishearten them
Anyway with that said, Iβll try see if I can help you.
As you said her face is flat. I strongly suggest using a crescent stroke shade across her cheek to show her face is smooth (depending on where the source of light is). Hereβs an example I made myself.
And the only other thing I donβt like is her tears. Iβm so sorry, but to me they look too straight and not blobby enough. And their colour kinda makes it seem like she stuck blue-tack below her eyes. I know water droplets can get tricky, but theyβre actually quite easy. Hereβs an example of an anime character crying.
I hope this critique didnβt come across harshly, because the last thing I want is for my comment to have a negative effect. Please donβt worry β I like this picture. I see your emotion in this picture and itβs beautiful (your picture, not your sad emotions). Some might find it strange that I find crying beautiful, but I do. Itβs nothing to be ashamed about for sure. Please feel free to draw pictures like this whenever you feel like it even if theyβre full of flaws.
